POSTGAME NOTES

Team

• Appalachian State dropped to 1-4 overall and 0-2 in Sun Belt Conference play.

• South Alabama moved to 3-2 overall (2-1 Sun Belt).

• The game was Appalachian State's first home conference game as a member of the Sun Belt. It also marked Appalachian State's first home game against an NCAA Division I FBS (formerly Division I-A) opponent since Appalachian's former conference, the Southern Conference, dropped to the NCAA Division I-AA (now Division I FCS) ranks in 1982.

• South Alabama's 582 yards were a season high (prev.: 429 at Idaho on Sept. 27).

• The 582 yards allowed by Appalachian State were also a season high (prev.: 560 at Michigan on Aug. 30).

• Appalachian State lost its conference home opener for the third-straight year.

• Appalachian State lost for only the 13th time in its last 81 home games.

• The 26-point margin of defeat was Appalachian State's largest at home since a 34-7 loss to Western Carolina at then-Conrad Stadium on Oct. 6, 1984.

• For the 53rd time in Appalachian State's last 54 regular-season home games, attendance was above Kidd Brewer Stadium's official seating capacity. Saturday's game drew 24,215 to 23,150-seat Kidd Brewer Stadium.

Individual

• Appalachian State redshirt freshman quarterback Taylor Lamb rushed for a career-high 78 yards (prev.: 68 vs. Campbell on Sept. 6) but his 152 passing yards were his fewest in three-career starts (prev. low: 256 at Georgia Southern on Sept. 25).

• Lamb's two touchdown passes matched a career high (also had 2 at Southern Miss on Sept. 20).

• Appalachian State sophomore running back Marcus Cox's 16 rushing yards matched the lowest total of his 17-game career. Cox had 16 yards on three carries in his collegiate debut at Montana on Aug, 31, 2013.

• Appalachian State senior tight end Drew Bailey's two-yard touchdown catch in the fourth quarter was his first reception since he caught a 10-yard touchdown pass against Illinois State in the second round of the 2012 NCAA Division I FCS playoffs (Dec. 1, 2012).

• Appalachian State true freshman wide receiver Isaiah Lewis' seven-yard touchdown catch was the first of his career.
