HICKORY, N.C. – Three Appalachian State University men's cross country runners competed at the Lenoir-Rhyne Open on Saturday.

"This meet was a chance for some of our freshman runners to get some experience," said head coach Michael Curcio. "It will also get them some races leading up to the indoor track and field season."

Tyler Sink finished eighth overall in a time of 27:42, while Grant Rodgers took 10th and finished in a time of 27:51. Chris Kelly also competed and took 21st, while finishing in 28:40.

The Mountaineers will next compete at the Sun Belt Conference Championships next weekend in Mobile, Ala. on Sunday, Nov. 2.
