POSTGAME NOTES

 

Team

• Appalachian State fell to 1-5 with its fourth-straight loss.

• Liberty snapped a two-game losing streak and moved to 4-3.

• Appalachian State's five-game winning streak against Liberty was snapped with its first loss to the Flames since Nov. 22, 1997 (25-19 in Boone, N.C.).

• Appalachian State fell to 7-3 all-time against Liberty.

• Appalachian State lost for only the second time in the last 36 games that it has scored at least 30 points.

• Appalachian State's 637 yards are a season high (prev.: 538 – Sept. 6 vs. Campbell).

• When Appalachian State's Aaron Krah's recovered a muffed punt for a touchdown in the second quarter, it marked the first time since Oct. 20, 2012 that Appalachian State returned a fumble for a touchdown (Joel Ross – 47 yards vs. Wofford).

• When Liberty's Kenny Scott returned a fumble by Appalachian State's Marcus Cox 39 yards for a touchdown in the second quarter, it marked the first time since Nov. 10, 2012 that a team returned a fumble for a touchdown against Appalachian State (Furman's Carl Rider – 27 yards).

• Appalachian State's 63-yard touchdown pass from Taylor Lamb to Simms McElfresh. 60-yard touchdown pass from Lamb to Bobo Beathard in the third quarter and 60-yard touchdown run by Terrence Upshaw in the fourth quarter are the Mountaineers' three longest plays of the season (prev long.: Lamb – 56-yard run vs. Campbell on Sept. 6; prev. long pass: 39 yards from Lamb to McElfresh vs. Campbell).

• The homecoming attendance of 26,058 marked the 54th time in its last 55 regular-season home games that Appalachian State in front of a crowd larger than the official seating capacity at Kidd Brewer Stadium (which is currently 23,150).

Individual

• Redshirt freshman quarterback Taylor Lamb set an Appalachian State freshman record with 397 passing yards (prev.: 334 by Randy Joyce vs. VMI – Oct. 17, 1981).

• Lamb's 397 passing yards were the eighth-most in Appalachian State history, regardless of class.

• Appalachian State junior Malachi Jones finished with 105 yards on five receptions for the first 100-yard game of his 30-game career.

• Jones' 100-yard game was the first by an Appalachian State receiver since Tony Washington had 138 yards at Wofford on Nov. 16, 2013.

• Playing in the first game of his career, Appalachian State true freshman Shaedon Meadors caught four passes for 90 yards, including a 48-yard touchdown reception in the third quarter.

• Appalachian State junior Bobo Beathard's 60-yard touchdown reception from Lamb was the first touchdown of his 33-game career.
