Men's Soccer Hosts High Point in Last Exhibition

BOONE, N.C. – Appalachian State University men's soccer will play its third and final preseason game on Saturday when it hosts High Point at 7 p.m. from Appalachian Soccer Stadium.

The Mountaineers have won both of their exhibition games to this point against the likes of Lees-McRae and VMI. The offense has produced a healthy amount of goals as well, with seven total between the two matches. Zach Joens leads the team with three goals this preseason after his hat-trick against VMI. Stanley Broaden is second with two goals – both coming in the Lees-McRae match.

High Point comes into Saturday after a 12-5-3 overall mark in 2012, which includes recording a 5-3-2 mark within the Big South conference. The Panthers return their leading goal scorer from a season ago, Mamadee Nyepon, who scored 13 goals and tallied three assists on 89 total shots last season.

The Panthers will prove to be the biggest test for App State as it prepares for the season opener against Marshall on Friday, Aug. 30 at Appalachian Soccer Stadium. Kick-off for that match is slated for 7 p.m.
