KANNAPOLIS, N.C. - Four
members of the Appalachian State University men's golf team competed in the
Irish Creek Intercollegiate on Monday, before Tuesday's final round was
cancelled due to the heavy rain in the Kannapolis area. Freshman Caleb Keck led the Mountaineers, tying
for 19th in the 89-player field with a 76 (+5).
Following Keck with matching 79s (+8) were senior Nick Buckwell and sophomore Eric Eberspeaker, as they tied for 44th
place. Rounding out the Appalachian scoring was sophomore Andrew Furr with an 80 (+9) and a 53rd place finish.
The Mountaineers enter their first team tournament on
Sunday, March 10 as they host the Bash at the Beach at The Surf Golf and Beach Club in
North Myrtle Beach, S.C. The three-day tournament saw 15 teams in the field
last season, as Appalachian claimed an 11th place finish.
