POSTGAME NOTES

 

Team

• Appalachian State (3-8, 3-4 SoCon) snapped a two-game skid with its third win of the season.

• Two of Appalachian State's three wins this season have come against nationally ranked teams (Appalachian also beat No. 24 Georgia Southern, 38-14, on Oct. 26).

• Appalachian State also snapped a two-game losing streak versus Wofford. The win was Appalachian's first over Wofford since a 43-13 win in Boone, N.C. on Nov. 13, 2010 and its first in Spartanburg since a 44-34 win on Oct. 17, 2009.

• Appalachian State had 37:00 of possession time against Wofford's ball-control offense. The 37:00 time of possession was a season high for Appalachian (prev. 35:02 at Elon, Sept. 21).

• The game was Appalachian State's 148th and final Southern Conference road game. Appalachian, which is moving to the NCAA Division I FBS Sun Belt Conference in 2014, finished with an 89-57-2 (.608) all-time record in SoCon road games.

• Wofford (5-5, 4-3 SoCon) was eliminated from contention for the SoCon championship and will not advance to the NCAA Division I Football Championship for the first time in four years.

Individual

• Senior wide receiver Andrew Peacock became Appalachian State's all-time leader in receptions when he made the 203rd catch of his career on a seven-yard pass from Kameron Bryant in the third quarter. Peacock broke the previous school record of 202 set by current St. Louis Ram Brian Quick from 2007-11. He finished the day with seven receptions, giving him 206 for his career.

• Peacock also became only the fifth player in Appalachian State history with 2,000 career receiving yards with a 12-yard catch from Bryant on the first play of the game. He finished the day with 54 yards, giving him 2,053 for his career.

• Senior wide receiver Tony Washington set a new career high with 138 receiving yards (prev.: 129 vs. Georgia Southern, Oct. 26, 2013).

• With 119 yards in the game, running back Marcus Cox became the third freshman in Appalachian State history to rush for 1,000 yards in a season, joining Armanti Edwards (1,153 yards in 2006) and Chip Hooks (1,062 yards in 1991). Cox has 1,035 rushing yards on the season.

• Cox matched a career high with three touchdown runs (one, three and two yards). He also rushed for three touchdowns vs. Chattanooga on Nov. 2.

• Freshman tight end Barrett Burns set career highs with eight receptions and 63 receiving yards (prev.: 3 for 33 yards at Furman, Oct. 19, 2013).
