POSTGAME NOTES
Team
- Appalachian State (2-2, 1-1 SoCon) bounced back from a
52-28 loss to The Citadel to defeat Chattanooga (1-3, 0-1 SoCon).
- Appalachian extended its winning streak over Chattanooga
to eight games and claimed its 25th win in its last 28 meetings with
the Mocs.
- Appalachian moved to 23-1 in its last 24 games that
immediately followed a same-season loss. The Mountaineers have only lost
back-to-back games in the same season once since the third week of the 2003
season (at East Carolina and vs. McNeese State to open the 2009 season).
- Appalachian avoided dropping to 0-2 in Southern Conference
play for the first time since 1972, its first season in the league.
- Appalachian avoided losing consecutive SoCon games for the
first time since 2002.
- Appalachian extended its winning streak at Chattanooga's
Finley Stadium to seven games, including wins in the 2005, 2006 and 2007 NCAA Division
I Football national championship games.
Individual
- Junior quarterback Jamal
Jackson became the 13th player in Appalachian State history with
3,000 career passing yards. Jackson completed 19-of-30 passes for 268 yards to
move into 12th in school history with 3,137 career yards.
- Brandon Grier's 70-yard interception return for a
touchdown was the first score of the linebacker's career. It was his
second-career interception.
