- Appalachian State's 18-game
regular-season home winning streak was snapped with its first regular-season
home loss since a 40-35 loss to McNeese State on Sept. 12, 2009.
- Appalachian State's 18-game
home winning streak versus Southern Conference opponents was snapped with its
first home loss in a SoCon game since a 38-35 loss to Georgia Southern on Oct.
20, 2007.
- Appalachian State's 18-game
winning streak in SoCon openers played at home was snapped with its first loss
in a conference opener played at home since a 27-21 loss to Furman on Sept. 18,
1982.
- Appalachian State's eight-game
winning streak over The Citadel was snapped with its first loss to the Bulldogs
since a 24-21 loss in Charleston, S.C. on Sept. 27, 2003.
- Appalachian State's nine-game
home winning streak over The Citadel was snapped with its first home loss to
the Bulldogs since a 25-0 loss on Oct. 3, 1992.
- The 24-point loss was
Appalachian State's largest margin of defeat at the hands of an NCAA Division I
FCS opponent since a 54-7 loss to Georgia Southern on Oct. 16, 2004. Since the
47-point loss at GSU in 2004, Appalachian's largest margin of defeat to an FCS
opponent had been a 22-point loss to Maine (34-12) in last year's NCAA Division
I Football Championship second round and its largest margin of defeat to a
SoCon opponent was a 14-point loss at Wofford (28-14) on Oct. 1, 2011.
- Appalachian State is 1-2
overall for the third time in five seasons. The previous two times (2008 and
2009), Appalachian went on to win the Southern Conference championship,
advancing to the NCAA Division I Football Championship quarterfinals in 2008
and national semifinals in 2009.
Individual
- Appalachian State RB Steven Miller had a career-high 167
rushing yards and three touchdowns on 21 carries (8.0 avg.).
- Miller's 167 rushing yards
were the most by a Mountaineer since DeAndre Presley tallied 264 rushing yards
versus Western Illinois in the second round of the 2010 NCAA Division I
Football Championship.
- For the first time in 10 career starts,
Appalachian State QB Jamal Jackson did
not pass for 200 yards or account for 250 yards of total offense. Jackson
completed 23-of-32 passes for 164 yards and had 217 yards of total offense.
