AUBURN, Ala. – Appalachian State University men's track and field turned in another impressive performance at the Auburn Tiger Track Classic on Friday and Saturday at Hutsell-Rosen Track.
Chris Moen and Darius Purcell paced the Mountaineers with top finishes in their respective events. Moen captured first-place in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 8:59.70 while Purcell grabbed another high jump title with a leap of 7'1.75".
Appalachian also finished with two more runners in the top-three of the 3,000-meter steeplechase as Sean Soderman (9:07.49) and Josh Cox (9:07.78) took second and third, respectively.
Alex Taylor turned in an impressive performance as he finished first in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 3:45.26. In the sprint events, Dennis Moore paced the Apps with top-10 finishes in both the 100 (sixth) and 200-meter dashes (10th).
Moore also helped ASU's 4x100-meter relay team finish fourth in its event. The senior sprinter, along with teammates AJ Dohanic, Landon Powell and Justin Thomas turned in a time of 40.70 seconds.
Jared Stalling rounded out the Apps top-10 finishes with solid performances in the throw events. His toss of 55'9" was good for third in the shot put while his mark of 175'6" in the hammer throw placed him 10th.
The Mountaineers return to action next week with their only home meet of the season, the Appalachian Invitational, on April 13.
