BOONE, N.C. – Appalachian State University men's track and field earned eight top finishes at the Appalachian Pre-Conference Open Meet on Friday at the Holmes Center and Varsity Gym.
The Mountaineer sprinters showed their dominance with four one-two finishes.
Dennis Moore claimed the 55-meter dash title with a time of 6.47 and won the 200-meter dash with the mark of 22.10.
Landon Powell won the 300-meter (35.17), while freshman
Raphael Rojas took first-place in the 400-meter (49.99).
Junior
Alex Taylor broke the Appalachian's Holmes Center 800-meter record with a time of 1:54.51 and was team season-best.
AJ Dohanic and
Stanley Broaden finished one and two respectively with time of 7.48 and 7.60 in the 55-meter hurdles.
Jared Stalling won the shot put with a mark of 53-8.50 and moved up ASU's record book in the weight throw to fourth all-time with a mark of 63-3.25.
Jacob Stowe rounded out the Apps top performers by winning the pole vault and cleared 14-11.50.
The Mountaineers look to cap off a successful indoor season at the Southern Conference Championship on Feb. 23-24 in Birmingham, Ala. at the brand new state-of-the-art Birmingham CrossPlex.
