Hamilton Speeds into ASU Record Book
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Solid performances by Amanda Hamilton and the 4x400-meter relay team leads Appalachian State University women's track and field at the Vulcan Invitational, hosted by Samford, UAB and BSC, on Friday and Saturday.

The junior from Cary, N.C., Hamilton ran the Mountaineers' fifth fastest 3,000-meter run with a time of 9:53.69 to place third, and also ran the seventh fastest mile in ASU's history with a mark of 5:01.90.  Hannah Orders ran the 3,000-meter run with a time of 10:09.77  good for 11th-place finish.

In the 200-meter dash, Breanna Alston finished in seventh with a time of 25.00, while D'Shawrna McLucas earned an 11th-place finish (25.36).

A week after breaking the school record Alston, Asia Dunlap, Breahna Morrison and Shenita Martin posted a time of 3:54.97 in the 4x400-meter relay to place fourth.

In the high jump, Shaquiela Robinson cleared 5-5 good for seventh-place while freshman Janet Watson finished in 11th-place by clearing 5-3.

Tatyana Bryant
rounds out Appalachian's top-performers with a personal-best 18-6.5 for fifth-place in the long jump.

The Mountaineers will compete on Friday in Boone for the Appalachian Pre-Conference Open Meet at 3 p.m.
