HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS,
Fla. - Appalachian State University men's golf finished fourth overall at
the Mission Inn Intercollegiate.
Josh Nichols led
the way for the Mountaineers finishing tied for fifth overall after leading
after day two. Nichols carded a 73-73-76=222 (+6), while Casey Komline finished second for App State and tied for 17 overall
shooting a 77-75-76=228 (+12).
Drew Harris and Jay Brown tied for 25th
overall with Harris shooting a 78-83-70=231 (+15) and Brown carding a
76-79-76=231 (+15) through three rounds.
Daniel Walsh rounded
out the scoring for the Apps as he finished one stroke behind Harris and Brown with
a 79-77-76=232 (+16), finishing tied for 30th overall.
Appalachian held on to its fourth
place finish as they carded a 304-304-298=906 (+42) and Johnson & Wales
(Fla.) took home the first place finish shooting a 299-299-286=884 (+20). Bethune-Cookman
College finished second with a 301-304-294=899 (+35) and St. John's finished
third five strokes behind Bethune-Cookman.
Appalachian State will be back in
action on Saturday, Nov. 3 when they travel to Cashiers, N.C. for the
Hummingbird Intercollegiate at Country Club of Sapphire. The tournament will be
a two day event.
