POSTGAME QUOTES

Appalachian State

Coach Jerry Moore

Opening Statement

"We didn't start off good.  We dropped two or three balls and just got a little shaky.  We just had a rough day against a good ball team."

On Jamal Jackson's and App's offense

"Well everyone knows that's our least experienced part of our football team, but we put a lot of pressure on those guys.  And let me say this, everyone talks about how good Wofford's offense is, it is really good no question about it, but the past two or three years their defense has gotten a lot better.  It's on par with anyone's in the league.  So with that being said I think that's why we had a lot of problems blocking them.  If they can't get to the passer they do a really good job of getting their arms up, which cuts your throwing lanes in half, and Jackson had some really uncharacteristic throws.  There were some balls that were low and that's just the way we played.  You can't expect to go in and perform like that.  I don't think we were sloppy, but the protection was an issue, some dropped balls were an issue.  To win you have to eliminate a big majority of those and I think that was the biggest difference in the ball game."

On the fumble and missed field goal

"It's an emotional thing.  We should be able to come back and get through that back but it's an emotional thing.  It's a downer for everybody.  It's a downer for your fans.  It's certainly a downer for your team.  You're coached to fight back and fight back and there's a lot of difference in your intensity and passion when you're seven points down with the ball at the 20 and you're 10 points down. "

On the player's mentality

"For one reason or another we just didn't get it done in the fashion that you got to go do it.  The fumble and the missed field goal; those are emotional issues in a game changing environment."

#12 Jamal Jackson - Quarterback

Opening Statement

"To start the game it was sloppy, just like last week.  It's the little things that put us in the situation we don't want to be in.  The little things shouldn't determine the game.  We put ourselves in a bad predicament."

On Wofford's play

"They try to keep everything in front of them.  My focus was to get the ball to the guys that can make plays.  They're going to play hard and that's their defense and we missed too many opportunities."

On looking ahead

"We're going to move on and move on to the next opponent.  We can't worry about what other teams are going to do.  We just have to win now and play good."

#33 Jeremy Kimbrough - Linebacker

On App's defense

"We held the offense in check for most of it, but in the end it didn't really matter because they made so many big plays.  They got on the goal line and were able to punch it in.  So we just made a couple of mistakes and it turned out bad for us."

Wofford

Head Coach Mike Ayers

Opening statement

"It's one of those games that I guarantee you, I'm going to cherish.  Not many times we come up here, matter of fact a lot of times we come up here we get blown out the park, but I thought our coaches did a great job as far as prep and we had to use a lot of guys, there were some guys that got banged up but we felt going in that we could compete with them.

On the big play's that could have changed momentum

I think one thing about this team; we have enough guys to keep on going.  With that said, when you have that leadership it's huge.   When you don't have that leadership what happens is it goes south in a hurry.

On App missing the field goal

Huge. Huge, instead of them making a field goal and potentially doing an onside kick and worrying about all the things that go with that, we had the ball in our hands and the opportunity to run some clock off which we could of finished it with our offense.  With that being said it was a great game, it was a great game.  If you didn't like this one, you don't like football.

Quarterback Michael Weimer

On the game plan and executing it

I think the defense did a great job executing.  Offense did a good job; there is always room for improvement.  Next week we will come out even better.

On playing time

It felt great, the coaches put me in great situations and the rest of my teammates helped me out and it felt great to just get out and help the team as best I could.

Fullback Eric Breitenstein

On winning

It's a lot of weight off your shoulders, App State is a great team and have been for three or four years and to come up here and beat them at home,  I think they have the best home record of anybody in the conference cause they don't lose at home.  To come up here and get the job done and especially being from right up here, it feels really good.
