GREENSBORO, N.C.- Appalachian State University women's tennis player Jennifer Ansari kept with her off-season training as the tennis standout won the North Carolina closed women's tennis singles title.
Ansari had a bye in the first round of competition, and then went on to face a tough competitor in Masey Demoss in second round action. After dropping the first set 5-7, Ansari cruised to 6-0 and 6-2 set wins to advance to the next and final round.
In the championship match, Ansari handily defeated Natsuko Takayanagi 6-1, 6-3 to win the title.
Ansari is one of nine Mountaineers that will return to Appalachian to compete for the Black and Gold next season.
