BOONE, N.C. — Nine former Appalachian State University football student-athletes showcased their skills for representatives from six National Football League franchises during ASU's Pro Day on Thursday at the Appalachian Athletics Center and Sofield Family Indoor Practice Facility.

Offensive lineman Daniel Kilgore, defensive back Mark LeGree, linebacker D.J. Smith, defensive end Jabari Fletcher, running backs Devon Moore and Devin Radford, wide receivers CoCo Hillary and B.J. Frazier and place kicker Jason Vitaris worked out for evaluators from the Buffalo Bills, Carolina Panthers, Jacksonville Jaguars, New Orleans Saints, San Diego Chargers and Tennessee Titans for a little over two hours on Thursday.

The headliners of the group — Kilgore, LeGree and Smith — focused exclusively on position-specific drills and did not participate in the traditional array of lifts, jumps and runs. Kilgore and LeGree were both satisfied with the measurable numbers that they posted at last month's NFL Combine while Smith will wait until next week to participate in drills such as the 40-yard dash.

Due to the busy schedules of many NFL evaluators, Appalachian will hold a second Pro Day next Thursday. Teams that have already confirmed to have representatives present for next week's workouts include the Indianapolis Colts, Philadelphia Eagles and San Francisco 49ers.

Kilgore, LeGree and Smith are all likely to be selected in the 2011 NFL Draft, which will be held April 28-30 in New York. A handful of Mountaineers could also sign with NFL clubs as free agents, although the timetable for free-agent deals is up in the air due to the league's current labor lockout. The Canadian Football League and Arena Football League are also possible options for the players that participated in Thursday's Pro Day activities.
