BEACHWOOD, Ohio - Appalachian State University men's golf sophomore
Casey Komline matched a career best with an even-par 71 and finished tied for third at the rain-shortened 18-hole Telich Cleveland State Invitational on Tuesday. The Mountaineers tied for sixth place with a 299 (+15), just one stroke shy of a tie for fourth place.
Komline knocked in 12 pars and three birdies at the event.

John Michael Cole made his Black and Gold debut with a 75 (+4) to tie for 24th place, one stroke ahead of senior
Darren Cook in 37th place.

Jason Woodall tied for 45th in the 85 golfer field with rounds of 77 (+6).
In its second competition of the season, Appalachian tied with Youngstown State in the 14-team field.
IPFW took home the team title with a 289 (+5), five strokes ahead of host Cleveland State. CSU's Andrew Bailey earned the tournament medal with a 68 (-3), one stroke ahead of IPFW's Bruno Carvalho.
From the Southern Conference, Wofford finished 14th with a 310 (+26).
The tournament was originally scheduled for 54 holes beginning on Monday before the first two rounds were canceled due to rain.
The fall season continues when ASU hosts the Donald Ross Intercollegiate on Oct. 17-18 at Mimosa Hills Golf and Country Club in Morganton, N.C.
