Difference from game last year vs. NCCU-
“We came out and executed early. Last year they came out and jumped on us 14-7. Basically we came out and executed early and put them in a position they didn't want to be in and we took advantage of every opportunity given.”
“When you start out slow it gives the other team a boost letting them know they can play with us. But it feels better knowing that we had that boost at the beginning of the game.”
Defensive Lineman- Jabari Fletcher
Key to defensive clicking
“Perfecting plays at practice. The key was communicating and continued talking to one another and everyone communicating and taking care of their individual job.”
On the defense's performance …
“Gives us a lot of confidence, better defense than we have ever had been. We all need to go back to the drawing board though and correct our mistakes. We always have room for improvement.”

“We are glad to win (obviously). We got to play a lot of players, which was good. NC Central was a hard team to get a feel for. I thought for the most part we played well.“

On questionable passes
“We knew we were never going to get the short game, but it was more if we were going to be patient enough to take it all the way down the field. I think that is what we really have to do a better job of, taking what defense gives us.”
On the difference in approaching game this year compared to last year …
“Last year we came in, kind of shell shocked by the atmosphere, kind of in awe, and had heard all about them. This year we came in with a little more of a swagger to ourselves, but you know when you come you better come to play them (ASU) whether you are confident or not, you have to bring it.”
Defensive Lineman- Teryl White
On ASU's quickness- chasing them:
“They are really such good players we had to fly around to the ball and we could have done a better job and it got away from us”
On ASU moving the ball
“Anytime a team can come out and score quickly on you, the momentum can be on their side. Some guys may have been showing it more than other, that does something to your morale. You know you are trying to come back in the game and it becomes a different ball game.”

“Bad tackling once again, and I am not quite so sure what the problem is, we will watch film again tomorrow.”
“We did not play a great defensive football game and when you play a team like this that is a great offensive football team, you have to be able to tackle and we did not do a good job of that.”
“The quarterback didn't hurt us that much, the running backs did a nice job for them (Appalachian) today. Some of the runs were runs after the first couple of hits. We didn't get them down to the ground, we didn't tackle well and the running backs hurt us.”
“I thought Michael played a good game for the most part. He did some good things in terms of the run game and got us some good plays”
“We were playing catch up football and the other team knows exactly what we were going to do. Since we were behind, the game plan goes out the window and we are forced to throw the ball a lot more than we wanted to”
