BOONE, N.C. — The Appalachian ISP Sports Network has secured a ledger of 14 affiliates to broadcast Appalachian State University's football and men's basketball games in 2010-11, ASU associate athletics director David Jackson announced on Wednesday. The 14 stations give Appalachian a presence in a four-state area, including every major market in North Carolina.

For the 12th-consecutive year, 100,000-watt WKBC 97.3 FM (North Wilkesboro, Charlotte, Hickory, High Country) will serve as the Appalachian ISP Sports Network's flagship station while longtime affiliate WATA 1450 AM (Boone, Blowing Rock) will remain as the AM home of the Mountaineers in the High Country.

New to the Appalachian ISP Sports Network in 2010-11 is WZGV 730 AM (Charlotte, Rock Hill, Salisbury). The addition of Z730-AM to the network will allow over 2.3 million people in the Charlotte metro area to hear every Mountaineer football and men's basketball game, as the station's signal can be heard as far east as Florence, S.C., as far south as Columbia, S.C. and as far north as the edge of the High Country.

The network will also be affiliated with the brand-new Triad Sports Network, which includes WSML 1200 AM, WMFR 1230 AM and 1320 WCDG AM in Greensboro/Winston-Salem/High Point. The affiliation with the Triad Sports Network gives the Mountaineers a heightened presence in the nation's 45th-largest radio market.

Appalachian games will also continue to be broadcast in the the Triangle (WDNC 620 AM and WZTK 101.1 FM), Asheville (WZGM 1350 AM) and the Tennessee-Virginia Tri-Cities (WPWT 870 AM).

“This year's slate of affiliates gives the Appalachian ISP Sports Network as large of a reach as we have had in many years,” Jackson said. “We are proud to be affiliated with these great stations and to bring ASU athletics to our fans across North Carolina and the Southeast.”
