ATLANTA, GA. - Select members of Appalachian State women's track and field were in action this weekend at the Georgia Tech Invitational in one final attempt to qualify for the NCAA East Regionals, scheduled for May 27-29 in Greensboro.
Freshman Gayshawna Watkins was the top individual finisher for the Apps, placing sixth in the shot put with a toss of 43-4.50.
Senior Danielle Thorpe earned an eighth place finish in the triple jump with a mark of 41-4.50, and classmate Julie Ward placed seventh in the pole vault with a season best mark of 11-7.75.
Freshman Shenita Martin placed 28th in the 400m hurdles with a time of 64.47, and junior Rebecca Hazeltine placed 12th in the high jump after clearing 5-7.
