Rembielak Named SoCon Student-Athlete of the Week for the Second Time

SPARTANBURG, S.C. - For the second time this year, Appalachian State University softball's Megan Rembielak was named the Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week, the conference office announced Tuesday.

Rembielak hit .417 for the week with eight runs scored, totaled five RBI and four stolen bases in addition to posting three multi-hit games.

She had two hits in both games against Radford, with an RBI in game one along with two runs scored, and an RBI in ASU's come-from-behind win in the second game of the series.

The North Carolina native also went 4-for-4 with three runs scored and the game-winning RBI in Appalachian's season finale win over Western Carolina. The four hit game was her second of the season, making her just the second App to record two four hit games in a season. The multi-hit game was also her team-best 19th of the season.

The sophomore led the Mountaineers during the 2010 campaign, with a .355 batting average, 36 runs scored and 61 hits, the second most in school history. She set a career-best with 19 stolen bases and broke the ASU single-season record with 12 sacrifice bunts.

Rembielak holds a 3.29 GPA and is majoring in marketing.

Appalachian finished the regular-season with 27-25 mark, compiling the first winning season in school history. The Black and Gold lose just one senior, returning all eight position player starters and all five pitchers for next season.
