GREENVILLE, S.C. - Appalachian State University softball held leads of 6-0 and 9-5 but Furman scored three runs in the bottom of the fifth to take an 11-10 lead and hung on for the win Saturday afternoon at Furman.

Stephanie Field and Katie Michaels singled to start the inning and Jessie Homesley dealt the big blow with a two-run double to tie the game. After a Morgan Hughey fly out, Lana Mackey grounded out to McKenzie Phillips at second but it was far enough to Phillips' left that the only play she had was at first.

The Paladins fought back with five runs in the bottom of the second. Furman was able to score runs in the inning on a fielder's choice, a wild pitch, a ground out and two RBI singles.

Appalachian tacked on three more runs in the fourth inning. Rappe and Rembielak each recorded their third hits of the day, Rappe stole second and advanced to third on Rembielak's single and Rembielak stole second before Boyd hit sacrifice fly to drive in Rappe.
