Men's Golf Places Eighth at Southern Conference Tournament

FLORENCE, S.C. - Casey Johnson was one-over par on Tuesday and finished in 15th place overall with a 69-77-73=219 (+3) at the Southern Conference tournament. Appalachian State University men's golf placed eighth overall at 290-306-295=891 (+27).

One stroke behind Johnson, fellow senior Jacob Eggers tied for 19th place at 74-77-69=220 (+4). Tuesday's 69 was his lowest round of the season.

Dustin Hudson carded a 73-76-75=224 (+8) to tie for 31st while Lance Wheeler placed 39th 74-76-78=228 (+12). Jake Wiesehan followed at 77-81-82=240 (+24) in 53rd.

Furman's Austin Reeves took home the individual title at 207 (-9), five strokes ahead of teammate Garland Ferrell, Elon's Jayson Judy and UNC Greensboro's Ryan Heisey.

The Paladins took home the team title as well, at 849 (-15). Georgia Southern finished second, 16 strokes off the lead, while UNCG was third, at 867 (+2).

The Mountaineers return to the course on May 1-2 at Virginia's Cavalier Classic.
