Softball Completes Sweep of North Carolina A&T
BOONE, N.C. - Hannah Dow and Ashley Stubbs each pitched complete games as Appalachian State University softball took both games in a doubleheader versus North Carolina A&T, winning 2-1 and 4-2.

The Mountaineers (21-17) jumped on the Aggies (16-19) early in game one, scoring both runs in the first inning.  Sarah Rappe led off the game with a single, stole second and moved to third on a sacrifice bunt by Megan Rembielak.  Rappe scored on an RBI single by McKenzie Phillips, and Phillips scored on an Allie Cashion RBI double.

That was all the support Dow needed, allowing just one hit through the first four innings before allowing a run in the fifth.  She scattered four hits and struck hit six in the victory.

ASU did not record a hit off Aggie pitcher Jennifer Luper after the first, but the Apps hung on for the victory.

Cashion had two double and two RBI and Stubbs allowed just two runs to lift Appalachian to a 4-2 win in game two.

NC A&T started the scoring in the second with a Jessie Larson RBI single, but ASU battled back in the bottom half of the inning.  Cashion led off with a ringing double to right field and scored when Michelle Lighton reached on an error.

Lighton and Cashion got ASU on the board again in the fourth.  Cashion led off with another double and scored on a single by Lighton.  Lighton scored when Michelle Gorzelle reached on another Aggie error.

The Apps tacked on another run in the fifth with another RBI single from Lighton.
