JACKSONVILLE, FLA.- Appalachian State University men's tennis dropped a tough 5-2 decision to North Florida Tuesday morning on the Osprey's home courts. Only two Mountaineers were able to grab wins in singles play, while ASU came up short in doubles action as well, losing two of three matches. With the loss the Black and Gold fall to 6-3 on the season while UNF improves to 9-4.
The team of Peter Jacobs and Trent Constance were the only Apps able to earn a win in doubles play, as the duo defeated Kurt Gattiker and Taylor Albretch 8-6.
Despite Philip Kloc and Alain Humblet posting a strong effort at the number two spot, the duo fell short losing 8-5, while Ezekiel Sansing and Andrew McKinnonn lost 8-1 at the number three spot, falling to Leonardo Nahar and Moritz Buerchner.
Constance suffered a close two set loss at the number one singles position, falling 6-4, 6-3 while Jacobs was defeated at the number two spot as well, dropping a very close and hard fought three set match.
Humblet however was able to earn a strong win at the number three spot, picking up a 6-4, 6-2 victory over Gleb Maslau.
Kloc was the only other App able to grab a win in singles action, as he downed Daniel Sotomarino in three sets.
To close out the match, freshman Luka Vujinovic and Andrew McKinnon suffered two losses at the five and six spots.
Continuing with its grueling schedule, ASU returns to action Thursday March 11, as they face Georgia State at 2 p.m. in Jacksonville, Fla.
