DAYTONA BEACH, FLA.- Appalachian State University men's tennis began its roadtrip to the Sunshine State on a solid note as the Mountaineers earned a 7-0 victory over Bethune-Cookman Monday afternoon. With the victory Appalachian improves to a stout 6-2 on the season.
The Black and Gold started off the match by sweeping through doubles play, easily winning all three matches.
The duo of Peter Jacobs and Trent Constance ran past Marc Misanovic and Yannick Jackson at the number one spot winning 8-1, while Philip Kloc and Alain Humblet won by the same margin at the number two position.
Keeping ASU spotless on the afteroon, the freshmen team of Ezekiel Sansing and Andrew McKinnonn downed their competitors as well, also winning 8-1.
ASU cruised through singles action as well, with every Mountaineer earning a victory.
Constance dominated Misanovic at the number one singles position winning 7-6, 6-3 while Jacobs defeated Greg Streat in three hard fought sets at the number two spot.
Humblet and Kloc were victorious as well at the three and four positions, while McKinnonn beat Kristofer Martin 6-1, 4-6, 10-8 at the five spot.
Seeing his first singles match action of the year, Britton Webb handily beat his opponent Jeff Smallwood, easily winning 6-2, 6-2.
Appalachian has a quick turnaround, as they take on North Florida tomorrow at 8 a.m.
