Men's Tennis Falls at South Carolina

COLUMBIA, S.C. - Appalachian State University men's tennis won the doubles point but, South Carolina came back to defeat ASU 5-2 Saturday in Columbia.

With the loss ASU falls to 4-2 on the year.

ASU scored the first win of the day when Trent Constance and Peter Jacobs defeated the No. 89 ranked team of Diego Cubas and Alexander Kostanov 8-5. Andrew McKinnonn and Ezekiel Sansing clinched the opening point with a 9-7 win over Johannes Pulsfort and Chris Sheehan. South Carolina claimed a win at the No. 2 spot, with Pedro Campos and Ivan Cressoni beat Alain Humblet and Philip Kloc, 8-6.

The Gamecocks came back in singles play, with Cubas getting a hard-fought win over Constance at No. 1 singles, with a 6-1, 2-6, 6-1 win.

Campos gave USC a win at No. 2 singles with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Jacobs. Kostanov gave the Gamecocks another victory with a 6-2, 6-4 win over Kloc at the No. 3 spot.

Humblet gave ASU its only singles win with a dominating 6-3, 6-0 win over Pulsfort. Cressoni grabbed a three-set win over McKinnon while Sheehan beat Sansing 6-2, 6-1.
