Women's Tennis Beats North Carolina Central, 6-1

DURHAM, N.C. - Appalachian State University women's tennis won its third match in a row, beating North Carolina Central 6-1 Saturday afternoon in Durham.

ASU started the match in dominating fashion, winning all three doubles matches. Ellie Linsell and Olivia Stannard beat Katya Chorna and Olesya Palko 8-1 at No. 1 singles.

Blakeley Bean and Gisela Fernandez earned an 8-2 win at No. 2 doubles while Jennifer Ansari and Caroline Mauch were winners at No. 3 singles, 8-1.

Linsell kept her momentum from doubles, defeating Chorna 6-1, 6-1 at No. 1 singles. Ansari came back to win at No. 2 singles in a three-setter thriller, 1-6, 6-4 (12-4) over Palko.

Caroline Mauch picked up her fifth win of the year with a 6-2, 7-6 win over Ashley Rogers. Bean and Stannard were winners at No. 5 and 6 singles to round out the match.

Appalachian returns to action Friday March 5, as the Apps' host Longwood at 2:30 p.m.
