Team

  • Top-seeded Appalachian (10-2) advances to the NCAA Division I Football Championship quarterfinals for the sixth-straight year.
  • ASU will host the winner of Saturday afternoon's second-round game between Stephen F. Austin and Villanova on Friday, Dec. 10 or Saturday, Dec. 11. The game day/time will be determined by the NCAA on Sunday, Dec. 5.
  • Appalachian secured its sixth-straight 10-win season, joining Ohio State and Virginia Tech as the only NCAA Division I teams (FCS or FBS) to win at least 10 games each of the last six seasons (2005-10).
  • ASU outgained WIU, 464-231, including a 417-133 advantage in rushing yards.
  • WIU's 231 total yards were 245 below its season average of 476.1 yards coming in, which ranked No. 2 nationally.
  • Western Illinois closed the season at 8-5.

Individual

  • ASU quarterback DeAndre Presley rushed for a career-high 264 yards on 16 carries (16.5 avg.) and two touchdowns.
  • Presley went over 1,000 rushing yards for the season (1,017) - the 18th 1,000-yard rushing season in school history and the third by a quarterback.
  • Presley also completed 2-of-7 passes for 47 yards and 1 touchdown to finish with 311 yards of total offense.
  • Presley became only the third player in ASU history with 3,000 total yards (3,287) in a season and the fifth with 30 total touchdowns (32) in a season.
  • Presley's 89-yard touchdown run in the second quarter was the longest in ASU postseason history (prev. 65 by Daniel Wilcox vs. Florida A&M, 1999 first round).
  • Sophomore Demetrius McCray's second-quarter interception was the first of his career.
