POSTGAME NOTES


Team
• Appalachian won its 26th-straight Southern Conference game and is now four victories short of the SoCon record for consecutive conference victories (30 – West Virginia – 1952-59. ASU has not lost a conference game in 1,105 days (38-35 to Georgia Southern on Oct. 20, 2007).

• Appalachian won for the 53rd time in its last 56 home games.

• Appalachian extended its record winning streak versus Furman to six games.

• ASU has won nine of the last 10 meetings in the series. Prior to 2003, ASU had only won consecutive games in the series once (1994-95).

• ASU won its eight-straight over Furman at home. FU's last win at Kidd Brewer Stadium came in 1996.

• Furman's interception in the second quarter was its first against ASU since the first quarter of the 2002 meeting between the two teams. ASU had thrown 246 passes against FU since the last time the Paladins picked one off.

• ASU scored 30 points for the eighth-straight game to start the season — only the second team in school history to do so (2007 team scored 30-plus points in all 11 regular-season games). ASU scored 30 or more points for the 50th time in its last 64 games.

• ASU allowed 20 points for just the third time this season.

• Furman's 261 total yards were the second-fewest allowed by ASU this season (197 – The Citadel – Oct. 16).

Individual

• ASU junior wide receiver Brian Quick became only the fourth player in ASU history with 2,000 career receiving yards on a 19-yard reception in the third quarter. Rick Beasley (3,124 – 1978-80), DaVon Fowlkes (2,960 – 2001-04) and Bob Agle (2,151 – 1965-68) are the other 2,000-yard receivers in ASU history.

• ASU junior running back Travaris Cadet scored on runs of nine, one and one yards for his first career multi-touchdown game.

• ASU senior defensive end Jabari Fletcher scored his first career touchdown on a 40-yard fumble return in the third quarter.

• ASU junior quarterback DeAndre Presley threw his first interception of the season in the second quarter. The interception snapped his personal string of 189-consecutive passes without an INT, including 185 this season. Coming into the game, he was the only FCS player in the nation with a minimum of 60 pass attempts to not thrown an interception.

• ASU junior tight end Ben Jorden moved into a tie for seventh in school history with his 12th career touchdown reception, a five-yarder from Presley in the third quarter.
