CHARLESTON, S.C.- Capping off a four match road swing, Appalachian State University women's tennis dropped their second Southern Conference match of the season falling to the College of Charleston Friday afternoon 6-1. With the loss the Black and Gold drop to 3-10 on the season and 0-2 in league play, while CofC improves to 9-3 overall and 2-0 in SoCon action.
The Cougars won all three doubles matches on the afernoon.
Amanda Cash and Caroline Mauch finished first at the number three doubles spot losing to their competition 8-0, while the team of Gisela Fernandez and Olivia Stannard faced the same fate, dropping an 8-1 decision to Laura Borza and Anna Lee Evans at the number two position. The duo of Blakeley Bean and Laura Janke were also unable to earn a win at the three flight, falling 8-2.
Junior Caroline Mauch won Appalachian's lone win in singles play at the number four spot, defeating Evans in three sets.
Bean lost at number one to Borza in two sets, while Cash and Heather Prior were also defeated at the two and three positions in two sets and Lindsay King and Stannard could not pick up victories at the five and six spots.
ASU returns to action Wednesday March 18, as the Mountaineers play Charlotte at 2:30 p.m. in Charlotte, N.C.
