Men's Tennis Blows By Bethune Cookman, Wins 7-0

DAYTONA BEACH, FLA.- Appalachian State University men's tennis won its eighth match of the 2009 season Tuesday afternoon as the Apps downed Bethune Cookman 7-0 to cap off the Black and Gold's spring break trip to Florida. With the win ASU improves to 8-3 overall.

The Mountaineers dominated doubles play winning all three matches and earning the early point.

The duo of Bobby Lake and Lee Floyd defeated Christian Cruz and Jeffrey Smallwood 8-3 while Trent Constance and Peter Jacobs cruised past their opponents also winning 8-4 at the number two spot. Freshman Jordan Moser saw his first match action of 2009, as he and teammate Britton Webb handily beat Kristofer Martin and Stefan James 8-4 at the number three position.

ASU continued with their impressive play, remaining spotless in singles action.

Lake was victorious at the number one spot, winning 6-2, 6-1 and Constance downed Yannick Jackson in two sets as well at the number two position. Jacobs and Floyd kept up the Apps dominance, as each notched wins at the three and four spots, while Phillip Kloc and Alain Humblet both won as well in two sets at the five and six positions.

The Apps look to carry their momentum into a huge SoCon matchup with The Citadel, Thursday March 12 at 4 p.m. in Charleston, S.C.
