Team
- With the victory, Appalachian (11-2) advances to next
week's NCAA Division I Football Championship semifinal at top-seeded Montana
(13-0). The game will be played either Friday at 8 p.m. ET on ESPN2 or Saturday
at 4 p.m. ET on ESPN. The day/time for the game will be announced on Sunday.
- Appalachian trailed 24-14 in the fourth quarter but scored
21 points on three drives of 64 or more yards in the final 8:38 to get the
come-from-behind win.
- The win was ASU's first when trailing after three quarters
in the postseason since it trailed Northern Iowa, 16-14, in the 2005 national
championship game before coming back to win, 21-16.
- ASU moved to 6-8 all-time when trailing after three
quarters in an NCAA Division I FCS/I-AA playoff game.
- ASU's 228 rushing yards were the most allowed by Richmond
this season (prev. 184 -vs. VMI), while Devon Moore's 175 yards were the most
allowed by an individual against the Spiders in 2009 (prev. - 133, Kyle Hughes,
VMI).
- The 35 points were the most allowed by UR all season as well.
Individual
- Devon Moore notched
his seventh-career 100-yard rushing game with 175 yards on 22 carries. It was
his sixth 100-yard rushing effort of the season.
- Moore's 175 yards were the seventh-most in ASU playoff
history.
- Devin Radford's 46-yard
kickoff return to open the second half was the longest of his career (prev. 31
- two times).
- Matt Cline's game-winning catch was just his second receiving touchdown of the
season.
