Men's Tennis Has Solid Outing at Davidson Invitational

DAVIDSON, N.C.- Preparing themselves for their ever-grueling 2009-10 season, Appalachian State University men's tennis competed at the Davidson Invitational over the weekend, taking on Furman, Winthrop and Charlotte. Numerous Mountaineers posted strong showings in singles and doubles action.

Sophomore Philip Kloc was victorious over Tyler Snook, winning in two straight sets, 6-4, 6-1 while teammate Alain Humblet handily beat Robbie Aru 6-2. 6-2.

Junior Britton Webb earned a solid win as well, as he handed Parker Stininsk a resounding 6-3, 6-2 defeat, while freshman Andrew McKinnon lost to Ryan Combs in tough two sets, falling 6-4, 6-4.

In doubles action, the duo of Webb and McKinnon notched an 8-6 win, whie Humblet and Kloc took an 8-3 win over Tareq and Shook.

The Mountaineers continue with their fall campaign, as they head to NCAA Mideast Regionals in Chapel Hill, N.C. on October 15.
