Men's Golf Takes Sixth at Davidson Invitational

DAVIDSON, N.C. - Jacob Eggers shot a one-under-par 71 on Tuesday to wrap up a 14th-place finish at the Davidson College Invitational, while Appalachian State University men's golf took home sixth place. The Mountaineers shot a 310-302-298-910 (+46) at the three-round event.

Eggers shot a 76 in Monday's opening round and followed it with a 79 before finishing strong on Tuesday to tally a 226 (+10) for the event.

Casey Johnson was just a stroke back for the tournament at 79-74-74-227 (+11) in 16th place, while Lance Wheeler carded a 77-75-77-229 (+13) for a tie in 28th place.

Jake Wiesehan placed 35th with scores of 78-74-79-231 (+15) and Dustin Hudson finished 61st at 93-83-76-252 (+36).

Liberty took home the team title at 287-304-305 (+32), two strokes ahead of Wofford. WC's Garrett Medeiros won the individual medal at 70-70-75 (-1).

Fellow Southern Conference foes Davidson (+49) and Elon (+55) placed behind the Mountaineers in seventh and ninth place, respectively.

Appalachian wraps up fall competition on Nov. 2-3 at the Hummingbird Intercollegiate at the Country Club of Sapphire Valley.
