SOUTH GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas - Appalachian State University wrestling beat Air Force in their first match but dropped their final three matches at the Lone Star Duals on Saturday.
After losing the first match to Air Force, Appalachian ran off nine straight wins to finish the match. Dylan Temple clinched the win when he pinned Sterling Trible at the 1:02 mark of the first period. Alex Cooke and Dustin Heiser earned their first dual meet victories of the season.
Kyle Blevins and Temple each won their matches against Army. Blevins earned his first pin of the year dropping Michael Gorman in the second period. Temple defeated Jacob Vetter by major decision 11-1.
In the third match of the day, Brown won the final four matches to come-from-behind for an 18-16 win. Andrew Sifakis began the match for ASU by pinning Greg Einfrank in the first period and was followed by Celorrio defeating Eli Harris 8-2 to give ASU a 9-0 lead. Chip Powell defeated Dave Foxen and Blevins dropped Chris Musser by major decision to increase the lead to 16-6, but Brown was able to win the final four matches, none by more than four points.
Celorrio pulled out the only win against Oklahoma beating David Armstrong 12-6. Oklahoma won the final eight matches for the 43-3 win.
ASU returns to action on Sunday, Nov. 11 at UNC Greensboro to begin the conference schedule.
