Mountaineer Football Notebook: Student Tickets for LSU-ASU On Sale Monday
BOONE, N.C. ? Appalachian State University students' allotment of tickets for the Aug. 30 football season opener at LSU go on sale Monday (Aug. 25) at 9 a.m. at the Kidd Brewer Stadium Ticket Plaza.

Tickets, which cost $45, will be sold on a first-come, first-serve basis to currently enrolled ASU students, with a limit of two tickets per student. Students must present their valid AppCard ID to purchase tickets.

MOUNTAINEERS UNANIMOUS NO. 1 IN PRESEASON COACHES' POLL: Appalachian is the unanimous No. 1 pick in the preseason NCAA Division I FCS (Football Championship Subdivision ? formerly Division I-AA) coaches' poll, released Thursday by the Southern Conference.

ASU received all 24 first-place votes from the FCS coaches to easily out-distance No. 2 North Dakota State. James Madison, which Appalachian travels to on Sept. 20 for one of the most anticipated non-conference matchups in FCS history, is ranked No. 3. Northern Iowa and Massachusetts round out the top five.

Like in The Sports Network media poll, which was released on Tuesday, the top-ranked Mountaineers headline five SoCon teams in the Top 25. No. 13 Wofford, No. 15 Elon, No. 17 Georgia Southern and No. 23 The Citadel round out the nationally ranked SoCon squads.

APPS ON THE AIR AROUND THE STATE: Appalachian will be represented on the radio airwaves across North Carolina over the following days.

On Friday, quarterback Armanti Edwards is slated to be a guest on the Morning Sports Page with Gary Williams, Jim Celania, Mark Yarbro and Tom Reilly on WFNZ 610 and 1610 AM in Charlotte. Edwards is scheduled to appear during the 9 a.m. hour.

On Monday, director of athletics Charlie Cobb will appear on Appalachian ISP Sports Network affiliate 620 AM The Bull in Raleigh-Durham. Cobb will discuss Kidd Brewer Stadium renovations and the season opener at LSU with host Chris Clark during the 11 a.m. hour.
