We'll take this time to look at ASU's seedings and preliminary round matches. A reminder, the MatJam is a double elimination tournament with the top two seeds getting a free-pass to the semifinals. 125: #3 Frank Celorrio: Frankie will open the day against the #6 seed Mitchell Johnson of UNCG. In the regular-season dual match, Celorrio defeated Johnson, 5-2. 133: #3 Terreyl Williams: Terreyl gets Davidson's Alex Radsky in the first round, a wrestler that the Durham, N.C. native bested in the dual match earlier this season, 12-7. 141: #2 Marcus Cox: Marcus is one of three Apps to gain a bye in the first round. He will get his first taste of the MatJam at 1 p.m. 149: #1 Scott Ervin: Scotty, ranked No. 13 in the nation will be going at 1 p.m. as well with his perfect 5-0 SoCon record this season. 157: #2 Eddie Hutchinson: Half of ASU's twin combo will be waiting a bit before opening the MatJam. His 17-9 record (4-1 SoCon) gives him a break. 165: #4 Tommy Hutchinson: Perhaps the biggest surprise of the seedings was Tommy's apparent snub. With a 20-16 record, 11 pins and 3-2 conference mark, most would have expected ASU's heavier twin to garner a higher seed. 174: #3 Neal Martin: Neal will attempt to return to the NCAA Championships, but will need three wins to do it. He will open against # 6 seed Derek Sickel from The Citadel. 184: #2 Austin Trotman: Austin, a freshman, will open in the semifinals thanks to a 19-10 record (3-1 SoCon). 197: #3 Dylan Temple: Thanks to a fortuitous Davidson absence, Temple gets a bye to the second round where he will get #2 seed Matt Koz in the semifinals. 285: #4 Jared Campbell: Jared (spelled Carlton in the brackets for some reason) gets #5 seed Aaron Brown in the opening round. Campbell bested Brown 2-1 in the regular season meeting. 9:36 a.m. Weigh-ins are complete and everyone is finding a way to relax. The team was in bed early last night to prepare for the early wake-up call this morning. The Apps are relaxed and ready for today's test. It's currently about 90 minutes 'till the first bout of the morning, keep your browser tuned to www.GoASU.com for bout-by-bout coverage of ASU's drive for nine.
