POSTGAME NOTES

Team
? No. 2-seed Appalachian State (11-2) advanced to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Division I Football Championship to face the winner of Saturday's Eastern Kentucky-Richmond game. The quarterfinal will be played on Saturday, Dec. 6 at ASU's Kidd Brewer Stadium. Game time will be announced later this week.

? South Carolina State finished the season with an overall record of 10-3.

? Appalachian won its 13th-straight postseason game, to extend its own NCAA Division I FCS (Football Championship Subdivision ? formerly Division I-AA) record for consecutive postseason wins in contiguous years.

? ASU moved to 10-6 all-time in first-round playoff games, while SC State fell to 2-1.

? Appalachian won for the 42nd time in its last 43 home games.

? Appalachian had a punt blocked for the first time since Sept. 24, 2005 vs. The Citadel.

Individual
? With an 11-yard completion to Ben Jorden on the second play of the game, ASU quarterback Armanti Edwards became only the 26th player in FCS (Football Championship Subdivision ? formerly Division I-AA) history with 10,000 yards of total offense in a career. Only a junior, Edwards accomplished the feat in the 36th start of his career.

? Edwards set an ASU single-game record with 433 passing yards (prev. 413 ? Richie Williams vs. Furman, 2004).

? Edwards set ASU postseason records with 433 passing yards (prev. 367 ? Richie Williams vs. Southern Illinois, 2005), 29 pass completions (prev. 27 ? Joe Burchette vs. Troy State, 2000) and four touchdown passes (prev. 3 ? five times).

? Edwards' 400-yard passing effort was the sixth in ASU history.

? Edwards had a string of 176-consecutive passes without an interception snapped on his sixth pass of the game. He had not thrown an interception since Sept. 20 at James Madison. His two interceptions doubled his season total coming in. The last time he threw two interceptions in a game was Oct. 20, 2007 versus Georgia Southern.

? ASU safety Mark LeGree tied a Southern Conference record with his 10th interception of the season (Furman's Vince Perone, Jr. ? 1972, East Carolina's Jim Bolding ? 1975).
