Men's Soccer to Host Davidson in Home Finale

Boone, N.C.- The Appalachian State men's soccer team will host Davidson on Sunday, Oct. 26 at 3:30 p.m. The match will be senior day for the Mountaineers. Seniors J.T. LaBruyere, Cameron McCarthy, Juan Obregon and Paul Pessina will be honored before the game.

About the Wildcats

Davidson is last in the Southern Conference with a 3-11-1 overall record and is 1-3 in the conference. The record might not be the best indicator for Davidson as they have played a tough non-conference schedule. The schedule included a 3-0 loss against Wake Forest and a 2-0 loss at Duke. Duke is the only team so far not to lose to Wake Forest, tying the Deamon Deacons. Davidson has also played Charlotte, Georgetown, Maryland and Marshall.

The Wildcats are led by Machel Turner wo has three goals and one assist and Alex Caskey who has two goals and two assists. Robby Goldsberry has seen the most time in net, as he has a 2.33 goals against and has made 49 saves.

About the Mountaineers

Appalachian broke their four game losing skid on Tuesday with a 2-1 win over Virginia Tech. The win was the first over an ACC team for the Mountaineers since a 4-3 win over the Hokies in 2000. The win was also the first ever Appalachian win at Virginia Tech.

Obregon scored two goals in the win and gives him a team high four on the season. The senior now has 15 career goals.

Junior Arie Muniz remains tied for second in the SoCon in assists with four and is in the top 10 in points with 10.

Freshman keeper Collin Taylor has played every minute of every game this season. He has a goals against of 1.03 and leads the conference in saves with 74 and shutouts with four.

The Mountaineers wrap up the regular season on the road at UNC Greensboro on Saturday, Nov. 1 at 7 p.m.
