BOONE, N.C. - Appalachian State University golf will face Gardner-Webb in the inaugural University Cup mixed-team foursome competition on Wednesday, March 28, 2007 at Mimosa Hills Country Club in Morganton, N.C., Appalachian head coach
Bill Dicus announced Thursday.
The unique event will pit the Mountaineers and Bulldogs in seven best-ball matches, featuring teams of one male and one female golfer from each intrastate rivals' men's and women's golf squads.
Mimosa Hills is a 1929 Donald Ross-designed course and is perennially ranked among the Top 30 golf courses in the Carolina. The event will serve as a homecoming for ASU freshman
Brooke DeHart, who starred at Morganton's Freedom High School.
The fan-friendly competition is open to the public, with the first pairings teeing off at 12:30 p.m.
