Sarah Rumely Noble, a former All-American student-athlete and a fast riser in the college coaching ranks, was named the ninth head coach of App State volleyball on Jan. 13, 2022. On June 23, 2023, she earned a contract extension through the 2026 season. 
 
In her third season at App State, Rumely Noble led the Mountaineers to their first Sun Belt East Division title and appearance in the NIVC Tournament since 2018. Additionally, App State went 18-10 (11-3 Sun Belt) and earned the East Division’s No. 1 seed in the Sun Belt Tournament, making the semifinal round for the first time since 2018. During the regular season, the Black and Gold won seven consecutive matches from Oct. 24 to Nov. 14 and recorded their first victories over James Madison since the Dukes joined the league and the first set of victories over Coastal Carolina since the 2018 campaign. Under Rumely Noble’s guidance, Maya Winterhoff became the seventh Mountaineer in program history to earn AVCA All-Region honors. Winterhoff also earned First Team All-SBC honors for her efforts on the court during the 2024 season after leading the team with an average of 2.85 kills per set and leading the league with a hitting percentage of .372. The Mountaineers also saw their second SBC Freshman of the Year honor under Rumely Noble’s tutelage as Elise Marchal earned the honor in addition to collecting Second Team All-SBC accolades alongside Addison Heidemann and Ava Leahy. In her freshman season, Marchal led the team with 35 aces, tallied nine double-doubles, and averaged 2.19 kills per set. Addison Heidemann totaled 11 double-doubles on the season, averaging 8.87 assists per set and 2.33 digs per set.  Heidemann was named Sun Belt Setter of the Week twice during the 2024 campaign and ranked fourth in the league in the assists category. In addition to their efforts on the court, the Mountaineers continued to excel in the classroom as four Mountaineers earned CSC Academic All-District accolades. 

The Mountaineers went 14-15 on the season and 10-4 in the Holmes Convocation Center in 2023. The Black and Gold tallied 10 sweeps on the season and posted nine consecutive wins from Aug. 25 to Sept. 9. Rumlely Noble guided Winterhoff to a second consecutive Second Team All-SBC selection after she led the Sun Belt with a hitting percentage at .383. Winterhoff and Cierra Huntley were two of six Mountaineers who were selected as Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholars by Diverse magazine.  McCall Denny reached a pair of career milestones under Rumely Noble’s guidance, surpassing 1,000 career kills and 30 career double-doubles. Rumely Noble also led App State to a 3-0 sweep of Troy for its first Sun Belt Conference tournament win since 2018.  At the conclusion of the 2023 season, Rumely Noble announced the program’s first foreign tour, with stops in five countries and matches with various teams including the Hungarian National Team. The Black and Gold also earned the program’s second consecutive AVCA Team Academic Award under Rumely Noble’s direction. 

In her first year at the helm of the App State program, Rumely Noble led the Mountaineers to an 18-10 (11-5 Sun Belt) record. The Mountaineers won 11 of its last 12 matches in the regular season, recording the best stretch of play for the Mountaineers since a program-tying 16 straight wins in 2015. The Mountaineers also went 9-2 at the Holmes Convocation Center and clinched seven five-set thrillers. Maya Winterhoff earned the program’s first Sun Belt Freshman of the Year award as well as Second-Team All-SBC honors alongside McCall Denny. Four Mountaineers also received CSC Academic All-District recognition. Introducing season tickets back to the program, Rumely Noble’s style of volleyball and match day at the Holmes Convocation Center drew the fifth-highest attendance rate in the league. Coaching the setters  group, she led the setters to 1,281 assists on the season, averaging 11.2 per set.

Rumely Noble joined the Mountaineers from LSU, where she worked as an assistant for the past five seasons, including as the Tigers' associate head coach in 2021.

Serving as LSU's recruiting coordinator, Rumely Noble helped the Tigers bring in nationally ranked classes in 2019 (13th), 2020 (22nd) and 2022 (17th), according to Prepvolleyball.com. Over the last four recruiting classes at LSU, Rumely Noble reeled in nine top-100 players.

In her five seasons at LSU, Rumely Noble helped the Tigers post 67 victories and a berth in the 2017 NCAA Tournament, while running the offense with a faster system and working primarily with the setters. The setters she coached were named SEC Setter of the Week three times, and two were named to the SEC All-Freshman Team.
Prior to LSU, Rumely Noble spent two seasons at Arkansas, where she ran the defense in 2016 and directed the offense in 2015. She also coached at Wake Forest from 2013-15, recruiting three players that earned All-ACC honors. She began her coaching career at North Texas for two seasons (2010-11).

Rumely Noble was a four-time All-SEC setter and two-time AVCA All-American at Kentucky from 2006-09, where she earned SEC Freshman of the Year honors in 2006 and SEC Player of the Year honors in 2008. She also was named a third-team Academic All-American in 2009. She led the Wildcats to four NCAA Tournament appearances and is still the program's all-time leader in assists and service aces. She was inducted into the Kentucky Athletics Hall of Fame in 2017 and was named an SEC Women's Legend in 2019.

Rumely Noble played overseas in the top professional division in France, Ligue A, where she was the starting setter for Nantes Volley Feminin from 2010-11.
She graduated from Kentucky in 2010 with a degree in education-kinesiology.
