JUNIOR • 2018-19
Mathews continued her trend of hitting 3-pointers and showcasing superior court vision for the Mountaineers ... Mathews led the team in 3-point field goal percentage (.426) and was fifth on the team in 3-pointers ... the Aussie point guard finished tied for fourth in assists per game at 1.1 ... scored a season-high 11 points on 4-for-6 shooting from the floor and three treys in an early-season win against Marshall (11/25) ... posted her best all-around performance of the season with nine points, four rebounds and three assists in a 94-70 win versus Wofford (12/17) ... averaged 7.0 points, 1.9 assists and 1.6 rebounds over a seven-game stretch.
SOPHOMORE • 2017-18
Played in all 31 games with 28 starts in a promising first season with the Mountaineers … was nominated for the Sun Belt’s Newcomer of the Year Award … one of the primary facilitators for App, Mathews led the team averaging 3.0 assists per contests … her 7.1 points per game were fifth on the team while she was tied for second in 3-pointers with 38 … finished 10th in the Sun Belt in assist/turnover ratio (0.8), 11th in assists and 16th in minutes per game (30.6 mpg) … her 3.9 assists per 40 minutes were 16th in the conference (natstat) … registered multiple assists in 24 games including six games with at least five helpers … notched 11 contests in double figures … scored a season-high 17 points on two occasions in wins over Marshall (12/16) and ULM (1/6) … posted four games with at least 10 points and five dimes, while she was the only player on the team this season to score at least 10 points, dish out five assists and grab five rebounds in a game, when she registered 10 points, seven rebounds and five assists in an overtime win over South Alabama (2/15) … helped Appalachian break the single-game record with 15 3-pointers against the Warhawks, where she hit five shots from beyond the arc … over her best 10-game stretch, she turned in 10.6 points, 3.5 assists and 2.9 rebounds.
PRIOR TO APP STATE
Playing one season at College of Central Florida, Mathews didn't disappoint where she was second on the team in scoring averaging 11.9 points per game, led the way shooting an impressive 87 percent from the free throw line and finished second shooting 43.3 percent from the floor ... the Australian was also second on the team averaging four assists per contest ... Mathews scored in double figures in 18 contests including 12 of the last 13 games ... during conference play, she elevated her play turning in 15.7 points and 4.8 assists per game ... scored a career-high 25 points on 9-for-16 shooting from the field while dishing out a personal-best 11 assists in another game ... prior to her one-year stint in Florida, Mathews played every year on the varsity team from Year 8-12 at Cabra Dominican College, while helping the team to a state championship in an impressive three out of four seasons in 2012, 2013 and 2015 and a runner-up finish in 2014 ... in 2013 and 2015, Mathews and her squad competed in the Australian National High School Championships, where she made a splash in both tournaments ... in 2013, she finished 11th in scoring during the tournament scoring 14.3 points per game, first in free throw percentage at 82.4 percent when attempting at least 15 free throws ... during the 2015 championships, Mathews ranked fourth in points per game at 23.0, first in free throw percentage shooting 85 percent, fifth in 3-pointers made and shooting 34 percent ... she recorded 16 steals, which was the second most ... Mathews played club ball with the Sturt Sabres Basketball Club where she was named the 2013 (U16) and 2014 (U18) Division I Most Valuable Player ... she was also awarded the Neil Gliddon Trophy for the club player with the most potential. She led the Sabres to a South Australia District Basketball Conference Championship in three straight seasons (2013-15), and a South Australian State Tournament Championship in both 2013 (U16) and 2015 (U18)
