UPDATED: 9/23/20
In adhering to the Sun Belt Conference model allowing its members to play a full football schedule in 2020, App State is proceeding forward with an 11-game schedule that begins Sept. 12 and includes six home games to be played in Boone.
Although we will not have fans at our two September home games, we’re excited about the opportunity for our football team to play safely and compete for another championship this fall. We remain hopeful that we will be able to welcome fans to games later this fall.
Below are FAQs about game days at Kidd Brewer Stadium. This remains a fluid situation. Schedules and policies are subject to change, and we will communicate as proactively as possible.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: With no fans at games in September, what are my options for tickets to those first two games?
A: Options for current season-ticket holders include donating the prorated amount to the Yosef Club’s
Keep Climbing initiative (to provide student-athlete support), rolling over your account credit toward 2021 football season tickets or a prorated refund of tickets. The deadline for a decision on your tickets needs to be communicated to the Athletic Ticket Office by
Sept. 15, 2020 by emailing
athletictickets@appstate.edu.
Q: What will my contribution support if I choose to donate?
A: Student-athlete scholarships are funded by donating to the Yosef Club or the
Keep Climbing initiative.
Q: Will I receive priority points for my contribution?
A: Yes, you will receive four priority points per ticket donated.
Q: Will I receive tickets and parking passes in the mail?
A: Due to the fluid nature of this process, tickets and parking will not be mailed this year. When fan attendance is allowed, there will be a central location on campus where those who are allocated tickets will be able to pick up their tickets and parking pass. Once capacity limits and seating assignments have been determined, the ticket office will notify those who are allocated tickets and parking of location, dates and times for pick up.
Q: Are tickets available for away games?
A: As long as guidelines at the institution are permitting fans, yes. If you have a ticket request for away games, please contact a member of the
App State Athletic Ticket Office.
Q: Will single-game tickets be sold this year?
A: No
Q: How does the governor's Sept. 22 announcement affect stadium capacity in October?
A: Based on the governor's announcement that outdoor venues with 10,000 or more seats can allow seven percent capacity starting Oct. 2, App State is working on plans for future home games, beginning with the Oct. 7 game against Louisiana. Priority for this limited number of spectators will be given to football student-athlete families, App State students and season ticket holders. Further details will be communicated to those priority groups in the coming days.
Q: If fans are allowed to attend future games and there is decreased capacity, how will season tickets be allocated?
A: Future attendance plans will be based on guidance from state officials and university leadership. When or if fans are permitted to games, we anticipate a significant reduction from full capacity. We will prioritize App State students, season-ticket holders and family members of football student-athletes. Season-ticket holders will likely not be in their regular seats dependent upon how stadium seating has to be spaced for social distancing.
Our process will be determined by capacity limits. Seating will be assigned based on donor giving rank. We will provide updates on
appstatesports.com as we have more information. Our goal is to accommodate as many people as possible within the guidelines outlined by state and local officials.
Q: Will tailgating be allowed in September or at any other point this season?
A: Tailgating will not be permitted on the App State campus in September. Campus parking lots operated by App State and used by Yosef Club donors and fans on game day will not be operated in typical game day fashion. Parking lots accessed via Stadium Drive will be reserved for football game participants and essential staff. Plans for tailgating after September will be announced later.
Q: Will I have to wear a face covering at sporting events this year?
A: Yes. Everyone on App State’s campus is required to wear a face covering while on campus, in accordance with the latest
university practices and policies.
Q: What safety precautions are being taken to make sure I'm safe in the stadium this fall?
A: App State Athletics will follow recommendations outlined by university leadership and the Sun Belt Conference, as well as state and local government officials. We will provide updates as more information becomes available.
As always, safety is our biggest priority. Our staff has worked hard to develop plans that include physical distancing, sanitation and other new safety measures, and we look forward to providing a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone who attends games this fall.
Q: How will in-venue concessions change due to physical distancing measures?
A: Once fan attendance is allowed, concessions will be implementing many additional safety measures for the upcoming season. These include, but are not limited to, physical distancing in the concession lines, cashless transactions and a new flow pattern for patrons. Additional information, as well as a full game day fan guide, will be released closer to each game week.
Q: Why is my Yosef Club donation important?
A: The generosity of the Yosef Club faithful provides our 400-plus student-athletes with opportunities, experiences and a world-class education. This includes scholarships, facilities, academic support, sports medicine services, nutrition, health and wellness staff and numerous other services.
Some of you have asked how you can help. Thank you! We recently announced our new
Keep Climbing fundraising initiative to help us sustain our operations and support our student-athletes that proudly wear the Black and Gold.
You also do not have to be a season-ticket holder to be a member of the Yosef Club, and every contribution we receive is incredibly helpful, no matter the amount.
