Soccer Closes Out Nonconference Play at ETSU

BOONE, N.C. – App State Soccer continues its journey on the road as the team heads to Johnson City, Tenn. to face ETSU on Thursday at 6 p.m. The game will be available to stream on ESPN+.

App State (4-1-2) is riding a six-match unbeaten streak, which is one shy of the program record set in 2005 and 2007. The Mountaineers are off to their best start to a season since beginning that 2007 campaign 5-0-2. App State is coming off a 2-2 draw at Miami last Thursday. Libby Bermingham scored twice in the first 15 minutes and was subsequently named the Sun Belt Offensive Player of the Week. The Warrington native now leads the team with five goals and 10 points this season. Lucy Harrington has six points on the year, netting two goals and two assists. App State leads the Sun Belt with 54 corner kicks attempted this season and their 7.71 attempts per match is 23rd nationally.

ETSU (3-2-0) returns home to Johnson City after a 2-1 loss against another Sun Belt opponent in Georgia State on Thursday. Junior Jada Cooper a first half goal, her second tally in her last two matches. Reagan Fitzgerald has also scored a pair of goals and leads the team with five points. The loss to the Panthers snapped a three-match winning streak. Addison Yelton has played all 450 minutes in goal this season, recording a pair of shutouts. She is the daughter of assistant coach Matt Yelton and niece of head coach Jay Yelton. ETSU was picked in a tie for second place in the SoCon preseason poll. The Bucs are riding an 11-game home unbeaten streak dating back to Oct. 2024.

The Mountaineers and Bucs are meeting for the 11th time in a series that dates back to 1997. The Mountaineers lead the series 7-3-1, but the Bucs won the most recent meeting, 3-1, in 2022 in Boone.
