CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Behind a first half brace from sophomore forward Libby Bermingham, App State Soccer battled Miami to a 2-2 draw on Thursday night at Cobb Stadium, extending its unbeaten streak to six in a row.
 
App State (4-1-2) has not dropped a match since opening night, matching a six-game unbeaten streak in 2024 as the longest since 2007.
 
The Mountaineers wasted no time getting on the board, scoring just 2:06 seconds into the contest. On a free kick from midfield, Maddie Williams lofted a high ball into the box. Olivia Simon was the first to the ball, punching it back across the six-yard box. Bermingham then used her right foot to play herself with a backheal, before poking it home with her left foot to put the Black and Gold on the board first.
 
Bermingham continued her magic in the 13^th minute of play. Goalkeeper Hanna Skogsfors came outside the 18-yard box to set up play with a long ball over the top. The service landed right at the feet of Birmingham, who was able to settle spin and score, burying the shot in the bottom-left corner of the net. It was Bermingham's second brace of the season to give her a team-high five goals on the year. The assist from Skogsfors was the first assist by a goalkeeper in program history.
 
App State's defense made some key plays as well in the victory, highlighted by defender Anaya Jones who saved a goal by heading away a shot to the far post, off a Miami corner kick in the 34^th minute of play.
 
Miami (4-1-1) broke through in the 75^th minute when Zoie Fontenot volleyed home a free kick to break up the shutout. The Hurricanes netted the equalizer on a penalty kick in the 77^th minute when App State was whistled for a foul in the box.
 
The Mountaineers were limited to just three shots in the match – the two goals from Bermingham and an attempt from Ellie Garrison. Skogsfors recorded a pair of saves in the first half and Anneliese Hindelang recorded a pair of stops in the second stanza. Williams, Simon and Lucy Harrington played all 90 minutes in the field.
 
App State will be off this weekend and return to action next Thursday at ETSU to close out its non-conference schedule. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. and the match will be broadcast on ESPN+.
