NEW ORLEANS – After becoming the third player in program history to hit three home runs in a game, App State Baseball infielder
Kameron Miller has been named the Sun Belt Player of the Week, the league announced on Tuesday.
Miller went 5-for-11 (.455) with four home runs, seven RBIs and seven runs scored across four games last week. He opened the week with a home run in Tuesday's victory over ETSU and continued his hot stretch into the weekend – homering three times on Friday against Georgia Southern – his fourth straight game with a home run. Miller was subsequently walked six times on the weekend.
All four home runs traveled at least 410 feet, including a 458-foot blast to cap the three-homer effort on Friday. Miller joins Banks Tolley (2024 vs Georgia Southern) and Andre Crawford (1986 vs Marshall) as the only players to homer three times in a contest.
Since returning from an injury that cost Miller 18 games, the reigning first-team All-Sun Belt selection has found his groove. The junior has homered six times in his last six games and is slashing .340/.522/.830 in the month of April.
App State Baseball has won seven consecutive games and 12 of its last 14. The program has also earned a weekly award in back-to-back weeks, as
Nick DiRito was named the Sun Belt Pitcher of the Week last week following eight scoreless innings at James Madison.
The Mountaineers begin a critical week on the road on Tuesday, with a non-conference matchup against Wake Forest in Shelby, N.C., at 6 p.m. The team will then visit Troy this weekend for a three-game Sun Belt series. App State is currently tied for second place in the standings, sitting a game ahead of the Trojans, with nine league games remaining.
