BOONE, N.C. — Led by No. 12
Savannah Dada-Mascoll's 19th consecutive victory in her final home match, the App State tennis team defeated James Madison 4-1 on Senior Day for its fourth win in a row.
Honored before the match for her contributions to the program, Dada-Mascoll remained untouchable on the court, extending her set streak to 24 with a 6-2, 6-0 masterclass at the No. 1 position.
Ruby Broadbent clinched the match for the Mountaineers (11-10) at the No. 5 spot, earning her fourth consecutive straight-set victory, 6-4, 6-2. After trailing 4-3 in the first set, she won three straight games to take the lead and carried that momentum into the second set.
Taya Powell earned a straight-set win at No. 3 shortly before the clinch, winning 6-4, 6-2 to bounce back from a setback against Coastal Carolina in the previous match.
How It Happened
The Mountaineers began the day by dominating the Dukes (11-10) in doubles play to clinch the opening point. The freshman duo of
Sreenidhi Balaji and
Allegra Hodson earned the first win at No. 3 for their eighth victory as a pair. Dada-Mascoll and Broadbent closed out the point shortly after with a 6-3 win, earning their third win in four matches.
App State carried a 1-0 lead into singles play, where the Mountaineers took the first set on four courts. Dada-Mascoll finished first at No. 1 to give App State a 2-0 lead.
Despite a loss at No. 4,
Naledi Manyube bounced back at No. 2 after dropping her first set, erasing the final JMU lead on the courts. Powell finished third after a back-and-forth battle, and Broadbent followed immediately after to clinch the overall victory.

The Mountaineers head to Atlanta to face Georgia State on Sunday in the regular-season finale. First serve at the Sharon Lester Tennis Center at Piedmont Park is slated for 10 a.m.
