JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The App State tennis team fell 4-2 to undefeated No. 72 North Florida on Saturday.
Savannah Dada-Mascoll extended her winning streak to 12 matches, her longest since recording 16 consecutive wins in 2024. During this stretch, she has dropped only two sets, the last of which came against UT Arlington on Feb. 28.
Freshman
Allegra Hodson blanked her opponent in her 6-0, 6-2 victory at No. 4 singles. The win broke a two-match losing skid for Hodson and snapped a 10-match winning streak for North Florida's (16-0) May Fadida.
How It Happened
App State (6-8) conceded the doubles point for the first time since Feb. 14 against Mercer, falling at the No. 2 and No. 3 spots to enter singles play trailing 1-0.
Despite Hodson's straight-set win, losses at No. 2 and No. 5 put the Mountaineers in a 3-1 deficit. Dada-Mascoll brought App State back within striking distance with her victory, while
Ruby Broadbent held a one-set lead at No. 6.
With only two matches remaining and the Mountaineers trailing 3-2,
Taya Powell forced a third set at the No. 3 spot after dropping the first. However, she ultimately fell in the final frame, clinching the dual-match victory for the Ospreys.

The Mountaineers return to Boone to open Sun Belt Conference play against Marshall on Saturday. First serve at the App State Tennis Courts at the Appalachian 105 Complex is scheduled for 1 p.m., weather permitting.
