STEPHENVILLE, Texas — App State Tennis fell 4-3 in a heartbreaker to Tarleton State on Friday. It marks the third time this season the Mountaineers (3-6) have lost a match that was tied 3-3 and came down to the third set of a singles match.

App State opened the dual-match by clinching the doubles point with victories on Courts 1 and 2.

Naledi Manyube struck first with a 6-3 win, marking their first victory as a tandem.

Savannah Dada-Mascoll and
Taya Powell then clinched the point at No. 1 with a 7-5 win. The duo jumped to a 4-1 lead over the Texans (7-3) before falling into a 5-4 hole, eventually rallying for three consecutive games to secure their fourth straight victory.
In singles play, Dada-Mascoll extended her personal win streak to seven matches with a straight-sets victory (6-3, 6-1) over Tarleton State's Aya Ishii. The win snapped a 14-set win streak for the Texans' freshman and pushed Dada-Mascoll's own streak to 13 consecutive sets won.
Broadbent put the Mountaineers within one point of the overall victory after winning 7-6, 6-1 at No. 4. However, losses on Courts 2 and 6 leveled the score at 3-3, leaving the match to be decided at No. 3. Despite battling back after dropping the first set, Powell fell 6-3, 3-6, 6-1 to seal the win for the Texans.
