NEW ORLEANS — App State Volleyball's MeMe Davis earned her second Sun Belt Conference Defensive Player of the Week honor of the season, the league announced Tuesday.
In the series at Georgia State, Davis led the defense and ranked first in the conference with 50 digs (6.25 digs per set).
Davis ranks fourth nationally in total digs (506) and 11th in digs per set (4.91). Additionally, she has taken scoring into her own hands at times — with 16 kills this season, she leads all NCAA liberos.
Beyond her stat line, App State coach Chad Sutton calls Davis the "glue that binds the team together," noting her vocal leadership and relentless backline coverage.
Davis took home her first weekly award of the season in Week 3 after setting a season high with 30 digs against North Florida and adding a career-high three kills against Western Carolina.
The Mountaineers are at home Thursday and Friday for their final home series of the regular season against Marshall.
